From Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.

Timmy Failure (Winslow Fegley) is a private detective that lives with his mother (Ophelia Lovibond) and runs his company out of her closet.  Along with his pet and business partner, Total the polar bear, Timmy runs Total Failure, Inc. for anyone that needs a mystery solved.  Timmy often secretly borrows his mom’s Segway to get around to cases and clients, but when Timmy comes out of a client’s house, he finds the Segway has been stolen.  In an attempt to get Timmy to pay attention in class, Timmy’s teacher, Old Man Crocus (Wallace Shawn), assigns him in a group with the studious Rollo (Kei), Molly (Chloe Coleman), and a girl Timmy hates: Corrina Corrina (Ai-Chan Carrier).  While Timmy has some friends, like Mr. Jenkins (Craig Robinson) the counselor he has to meet with at school and Flo (Caitlin Weierhauser) the tough librarian, Corrina is his arch enemy because she works with the Russians.  While he searches for his mom’s stolen Segway, Timmy has to deal with all sorts of other problems like a move, difficult investigations, and his mom’s new boyfriend, Crispin (Kyle Bornheimer).  Cases begin to pile up with no clear answers, especially in connection to the Segway, but when Timmy has to hire Rollo for help because of all the cases, Timmy suspects that Corrina and the Russians are trying to stop him by any means necessary.  However, many mistakes are made and they seem to land Timmy in more and more trouble, but as a Failure, he never gives up.

This comedy is full of dry humor that introduces the viewer to a world where an imaginative and inattentive little boy creates a mystery wherever he goes.  Fegley is the perfect choice to play the title character, easily bringing the popular Stephan Pastis book to life on screen.  The movie can be a bit odd at times, blending daydreams and reality, but it only adds to the hilarious misadventure that is Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.
