From Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Facing the challenges of starting middle school are hard enough to begin with, but when his mother forces you to start writing in a diary, life becomes almost unbearable for one boy. Greg Heffley (Brady Noon) leads a pretty average life; he has an older brother named Rodrick (Hunter Dillon) who torments him, a younger brother named Manny (Gracen Newton) who gets away with everything, a best friend named Rowley (Ethan William Childress), and a school full of people who don’t really like him. While Greg’s parents (Erica Cerra and Chris Diamantopoulos) are thrilled that he’ll be entering middle school with Rowley, Rodrick warns that the Rowley’s un-coolness will make him unpopular forever. However, when the boys actually start middle school, a crazy series of events soon leads to Rowley becoming popular and Greg becoming more desperate to follow his friend. When Rowley gets mad at Greg for his selfish attitude, Greg finds himself stuck trying to play with Fregley (Christian Convery), the only other kid in his neighborhood… with disastrous results. Greg’s crazy plans and misadventures as he tries to move up the social ladder at school is full of craziness as the boy haphazardly takes on trick-or-treating, finding a seat in the lunch room, avoiding the dreaded cheese touch, and growing up without losing those closest to you.
The newest adaptation of the iconic book series movie is very easy to follow and it moves at a quick pace. Fans of the book will love the animation style that seamlessly transfers the characters from page to screen. While the main character does not always make good decisions, his realization of the truth at the end makes him a relatable character. The fun characters help to make Diary of a Wimpy Kid a hilarious adventure from start to finish.
