“Just as long as you get there.”

From Queenpins.

Life in sunny Phoenix, Arizona has been far from perfect for former olympic speed walker, Connie (Kristen Bell). After losing all their savings following a long series of failed fertility treatments, Connie and her husband, Rick (Joel McHale), have drifted apart. Connie now is only able to find a sense of purpose in couponing and stockpiling supplies for her home. When Connie opens a new box of cereal to find that it’s stale, she complains to the manufacturer and receives a coupon for a free replacement, but when the cashier (Eduardo Franco) at her local A&G Family Mart informs her it’s common practice, she develops a crazy plan. Connie brings her best friend and influencer-wannabe, Jojo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), into the business opportunity, and the two women begin a coupon scam of epic proportions. After hiring two workers (Ilia Isorelýs Paulino and Francisco J. Rodriguez) from a Mexican coupon manufacturing plant to act as smugglers, Connie and Jojo launch the Savvy Super Saver website and sell the stolen coupons for half the cost of the “free” item. Six months after starting the website, the coupon scam has grown to include thousands of users and millions in profits, so the women reach out to a hacker (Bebe Rexha) for help cleaning their digital money. Ken (Paul Walter Hauser) is the loss prevention manager for A&G Family Mart and he’s horrified when A&G stores repeatedly try to redeem the coupons with major companies, only to have the companies claim the coupons are fraudulent. While Ken doggedly searches for the truth, his discovery that the coupons are sent through the mail brings U.S. Postal Inspector Kilmurry (Vince Vaughn) onto the case and the hunt is truly on.

While this film might be a bit more extravagant than the real life happenings that inspired it, the changes make for a hilarious movie. Bell and Howell-Baptiste are fun to watch blunder their way through, but Hauser’s character easily steals the show. Inspired by a truly unbelievable story Queenpins is a crime comedy unlike anything else that will keep viewers laughing from start to finish.
