“Well… they will be.”

From What Happened to Monday.

In a world where only one child is allowed to save the planet from overpopulation and destruction, one man, Terrance Settman (Willem DaFoe), has risked everything to keep his granddaughters (Clara Read) safe. When the world was plagued by a dwindling food supply and then an increase in multiple births due to genetic food modification, Dr. Nicolette Caymen (Glenn Close) suggested that the world adapt the Child Allocation Act. Since birth, Clarence has kept his granddaughters named Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (all Noomi Rapace) hidden in an apartment, only allowing each one to go out on their day of the week under the shared identity of Karen Settman.  For thirty years, the septuplets have been able to live their dangerous charade, convincing coworkers (including Pål Sverre Hagen), acquaintances (like Adetomiwa Edun), and even authorities (including Marwan Kenzari) that they are one woman. However, when Monday fails to return home, her sisters are left wondering what happened to her, so they send Tuesday out the next day to retrace Monday’s steps. As Tuesday tries to figure out what happened to Monday, she is captured and taken to the Child Allocation Bureau, leaving the five women at home desperately trying to decide what to do both to find Monday and Tuesday, and keep their secret safe. Then the C.A.B. (led by Christian Rubeck) raids the apartment to kill the sisters before the world finds out about their existence. As the sisters are hunted at every turn, they begin to learn secrets about each other that they never would have expected from the people they share a life with.

This sci-fi thriller is an action-packed ride from start to finish. The terrifying plausibility of the future presented in the movie makes an impact on the viewer. Rapace brings a definite uniqueness to each of her seven roles, which is impressive. What Happened to Monday will keep viewers guessing until the very end.
