From Close.
There are few people more skilled in personal protection than Sam Carlson (Noomi Rapace), who has spent years acting as a smart and violent bodyguard for officials, members of the press, the wealthy, and their family members. Sam’s newest client is the young and rebellious Zoe Tanner (Sophie Nélisse) who, after her father’s death, has been left with all of her father’s owning shares of his mining company, much to the surprise of her stepmother, Rima (Indira Varma), who has been made acting CEO of the company. Sam’s contracted assignment is a week-long trip to Morocco, but when she delivers Zoe to the family’s heavily-fortified Moroccan home, the girl tells her to stay the night in one of the guest rooms instead of departing for the airport during the night. When the home’s intense security system is hacked and assassins invade the home, the quick-thinking Sam is able to get Zoe safely outside to the arriving police. However, when it becomes evident that the officers aren’t who they claim to be, Zoe shoots one of the corrupt officers with his own gun when he tries kill Sam. On the run from both the police and the unknown people hunting Zoe, Sam promises to get her out of the country, but Rima refuses to help because of the bad publicity the murder has brought on the company, so Sam is alone in keeping Zoe safe. With no idea who is behind the continued attacks on Zoe’s life, Sam struggles to keep Zoe safe as the situation plummets deeper and deeper into a deadly mess.
This action is filled to the brim with suspense, thrills, and fights. Rapace leads the charge with her no-holding-back attitude present in each action and fight scene. The underlying mystery of the movie is engaging, but viewers will find that the action is definitely the driving force for Close.
