From 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
Former Navy Seal Jack (John Krasinski) is brought in as part of the 6-man security detail for a secret CIA base in Benghazi, Libya. When he arrives, his friend and team leader, Tyrone (James Badge Dale), introduces Jack to the other teammates: Boon (David Denman), Oz (Max Martini), Tanto (Pablo Schreiber), and Tig (Dominic Fumusa). After the turmoil of 2012, the CIA Station Chief (David Costabile) is eager to keep his station secret and the security operators assigned under him out of sight. When American Ambassador Chris Stevens (Matt Letscher) comes to the Benghazi embassy, Jack and the others are brought in to help his State Department safety team (led by David Giuntoli and Demetrius Grosse) with transportation and off-base security. After an anti-Muslim film offends the already-angry locals, a group of extremists attack the American Embassy on the night of September 11. Since they were not allowed to leave the the CIA station because of the Chief’s desire to keep the CIA’s in-country presence secret, the embassy is overrun and the State guys are scattered. Unwilling to stand by any longer, most of the security team leaves the CIA compound and races to rescue the Americans, while Oz prepares the compound for a fight that he is sure will eventually make the one-mile journey to them. With no other options, everyone regroups at the CIA station where the small group of soldiers must defend the Americans there as the hours drag on. While waiting for another group of soldiers (led by Toby Stephens) to help them escape the country, the six security officers must defend against an endless barrage of attacking extremists.
Based on the real life happenings surrounding the fall of the American Embassy in Benghazi, this war movie is a non-stop display of heroic action. The talented cast is led well by Krasinski, both in the action and calmer scenes. This movie is violent and intense, but 13 Hours is a must-watch for those interested in the lesser known recent history.
