From Point Blank.
Nurse Paul (Anthony Mackie) and his wife, Taryn (Teyonah Parris), are excitedly waiting for the fast-approaching birth of their first child. While escaping from a job that went bad, thug Abe (Frank Grillo) is hit by a car before he could reach his waiting getaway car, and unable to get him away from the first responders, Abe’s brother, Mateo (Christian Cooke) leaves him to be taken to the hospital. While police detectives Lewis (Marcia Gay Harden), Masterson (Boris McGiver), and Jones (Nik Pajic) investigate the murder of an assistant district attorney, Abe is initially admitted to the hospital as an unconscious John Doe and Paul is assigned to be his nurse. When Paul goes to check on Abe, he finds Mateo in the room and the brother attacks him before escaping with Paul’s identification and a flash drive from Abe’s possessions. After reporting the attack to the police, Paul goes home where he’s knocked unconscious by a waiting Mateo, and when he wakes up he finds that his wife has been kidnapped until Paul can get Abe out of the hospital. Desperate to keep his wife safe, Paul gets Abe out of police custody and goes with him to meet Mateo, but he quickly learns that Abe and Mateo are running because the flash drive contains evidence against dirty cops. While being hunted by mysterious dirty cops around the city, Paul and Abe risk everything to keep the people they love safe by seeking help from Big D (Markice Moore), the gangster that Abe betrayed, because he is their only chance of making it out alive.
A remake of the classic movie if the same name, this movie manages to fill the screen with almost nonstop action and twists. Viewers will find it easy to connect with Mackie’s character, but Grillo also manages to become a hero-of-sorts before the movie’s end. Point Blank is the perfect watch for action and thriller fans everywhere.
