From Eternals.
Sent by the Celestial Arishem to defend Earth, the immortal and powerful Eternals have spent thousands of years protecting humankind from the evil monsters known as Deviants. Under the leadership of Ajak (Salma Hayek), Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Thena (Angelina Jolie), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and Sprite (Lia McHugh) have fought countless battles and helped encourage the growth of civilization. In love with the people of earth, Sersi and Druig find Arishem’s order to not intervene with human struggles unless a Deviant is involved, so after ridding the world of all the Deviants, Druig leaves the other Eternals to bring as much peace to humanity as he can. Since the Deviants have been eradicated, Ajak tells the Eternals to go live among people until Arishem is ready to send them to their planet. Hundreds of years pass and even living in the modern world, the Eternals are still mostly separated. However, when Sprite, Sersi, and her boyfriend Dane (Kit Harington) are attacked in London by an enhanced Deviant, Ikarus arrives to defend his former love, Sersi. The three Eternals rush to Ajak for direction over the return of the Deviants, but they get to her too late and are surprised when Sersi is left in charge of the Eternals. When Sersi learns the painful truth about their past and the future of the world, she leads Ikaris and Sprite on a global trek to find and reunite the Eternals. As the end of the world draws near, each of the Eternals will struggle with the past and the unbeatable evil that will require them to be united once again.
The newest addition to the Marvel cinematic universe features a large, talented cast in an exciting superhero movie unlike any other. While some of the main characters seem cold initially, the characters develop in depth and emotion as the film progresses. The special effects are impressive, which helps the viewer dive into the somewhat-complicated background. Eternals is an interesting movie that will draw viewers in and ready to see where the franchise goes next.
