“But you’re gonna have to talk to that goat, because I don’t want any more of my jewelry going through his intestines.”

From Ron’s Gone Wrong.

When the tech company Bubble announce their new smart, fun, and friend-finding B-Bots, the world becomes consumed with the countless features the robots provide. As the only kid at his school without a B-Bot, Barney (Jack Dylan Grazer) is feeling even more left out than ever. While Barney’s dad (Ed Helms) and grandma (Olivia Coleman) work tirelessly trying to make ends meet and make sure Barney is taken care of, the B-Bot’s high price tag has left them completely unaware of the generation-changing craze. However, after a disastrous birthday, Barney’s dad realizes how important it is to Barney and tries to get him a bot, but he is only able to buy a damaged B-Bot. Even with the scuffed case, Barney is thrilled to have his own B-Bot and names it Ron (Zach Galifianakis) while trying to set it up. Because Ron is damaged and not connected to the user he was created for, Barney quickly notices some problems, primarily that Ron doesn’t know everything about him and doesn’t adhere to all the standard safety protocols. Desperate to fit in with his classmates (Thomas Barbusca, Kylie Cantrall, and Iara Nemirovsky), Barney begins to teach Ron everything about himself so Ron can be his best friend, but the glitchy little bot quickly creates some funny messes that others notice. When Bubble learns about Ron, the tech genius Marc (Justice Smith) wants to find him to examine the code, but his financial backer, Andrew (Rob Delaney), wants to use the chaos to take the company to higher profits. Learning that Bubble wants to fix Ron’s glitches and destroy his personality, Barney runs away with Ron on a journey that will show them both what real friendship looks like.

This comedy-filled adventure is sure to be a hit with families and tech-loving viewers everywhere. The animation is fun, the main characters are perfectly cast with Galifianakis and Grazer, and the humor flows genuinely easy. Ron’s Gone Wrong easily manages to fit both laughter and a lesson into the story which should make it an instant classic.
