From The Addams Family 2.
The school science fair is where Wednesday Addams (ChloĆ« Grace Moretz) has decided to unveil her scientific breakthrough of temporarily transferring the brilliance of her octopus with her idiotic Uncle Fester (Nick Kroll). While Wednesday’s genius is noticed by the science fair’s rich scientist sponsor, Cyrus Strange (Bill Hader), the school’s “everyone’s a winner” policy frustratingly keeps her from truly winning. Angered by her loss and the distracting destruction caused by her brother Pugsley (Javon Walton), Wednesday announces that she wants to be left alone, which worries her parents, Morticia (Charlize Theron) and Gomez (Oscar Isaac), and inspires them to plan a family vacation. While loading everything into the camper with the help of butler Lurch (Conrad Vernon), Gomez and Morticia are interrupted by Mr. Mustela (Wallace Shawn), a lawyer who informs them that there might have been a mix-up at the hospital when Wednesday was born so that she might not be an Addams. Gomez and Morticia think it’s a prank by Wednesday to get out of the vacation, so they laugh it off and send Mustela away. Leaving Grandma (Bette Midler) to watch the house, the rest of the Addams family sets off on a journey across America. While Fester finds a growing number of side effects from Wednesday’s science project, Morticia and Gomez are distracted by Mustela and another goon (Brian Sommer) that are following them everywhere, trying to get Wednesday to her possible real family. Since her parents have no doubt that Wednesday is an Addams, Morticia and Gomez do everything they can to keep Wednesday and the family away from the men and the mysterious family that sent them.
The sequel to the 2019 animated reboot is again full of fun, mildly dark humor and happenings that will easily remind viewers of the classic television show and iconic films. The cast is impressive and the animation style is impressively captivating, but the movie’s real success lies with the subtle humor that fills every scene. The Addams Family 2 offers a positive adventure that’s filled with humor the entire family can enjoy.
