“No!”

From The Suicide Squad.

When a political coup in the small nation of Corto Maltese leaves America without peace-keeping leadership there, Secretary Waller (Viola Davis) again assembles a group of incarcerated villains to form Task Force X for a sentence-reducing suicide mission. While Colonel Flag (Joel Kinnaman) is somewhat glad to again lead Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), he is less than thrilled to lead the inexperienced Savant (Michael Rooker), Weasel (Sean Gunn), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Javelin (Flula Borg), T.D.K. (Nathan Fillion), and Mongal (Mayling Ng) in a covert attack on the island. Unbeknownst to Flag and Harley’s team, Waller has sent a second smaller team—reluctantly led by Bloodsport (Idris Elba)—to sneak onto the island for twice the chance of success. Blackmailed into helping in order to save his daughter (Storm Reid), Bloodsport now finds himself forced to lead Peacekeeper (John Cena), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), and Shark King (Sylvester Stallone) on a deadly mission to stop the violent generals (Juan Diego Botto and Joaquín Cosio) from using the mysterious Project Starfish weapon against America. When the first team’s attack fails miserably, Harley finds herself captured by the enemy while Flag is injured and lost until he’s rescued by a freedom fighter (Alice Braga) and her men. When Waller locates Flag, she sends Bloodsport and his team to meet up with him before taking down Project Starfish’s lead scientist, Thinker (Peter Capaldi). Knowing that they’ll need Harley to finish the mission, Flag leads the remaining members of the Suicide Squad to rescue her before they move to save the world from total destruction… for the second time.

While this movie is a sorta-sequel to the 2016 Suicide Squad, this action-packed supervillain adventure also has somewhat of a stand-alone feel. While the crazy characters and death-defying action is familiar (especially with Robbie’s Harley Quinn) the gore sees a major increase, which easily gives the story a new feel. Taking the best elements of the first movie and redesigning the rest, The Suicide Squad is a bloody, but amazing must-see antihero adventure.
