From Army of the Dead.
After a military transport carrying a zombie crashes just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, the city is quickly overrun by zombies forcing the government to wall off the city to keep the monsters from overtaking the country. After being involved in the last evacuation mission before the wall was completed, Scott (Dave Bautista) has slipped into a life of dull unimportance. However, when the president announces that he is going to nuke Vegas to destroy the zombie population once and for all, billionaire Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada) comes to Scott with an offer that seems too good to be true. Tanaka tells Scott that he will give Scott fifty million dollars to travel to Tanaka’s casino in Vegas and steal the millions of already-insurance-reimbursed cash in the safe before the city is bombed. Unable to pass up the money, Scott gathers a team: former teammates Maria (Ana de la Reguera) and Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), safe cracker Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer), pilot Peters (Tig Notaro), online zombie-killers Guzman (Raúl Castillo) and Chambers (Samantha Win), and Tanaka’s security man Martin (Garret Dillahunt). When Scott and his team arrive in the quarantine camp outside Vegas, they realize they’ll need additional help to sneak into the city, so Scott reaches out to his estranged daughter, Kate (Ella Purnell), an aid worker in the camp to help them connect with coyote Lily (Nora Arnezeder) and camp guard Cummings (Theo Rossi). However, when Kate learns that her friend (Huma Qureshi) is lost somewhere in Vegas, she joins the crew so she can find and rescue the woman. The crew quickly learns that while most of zombies are mindless-but-hungry crawlers, any person bitten by patient zero becomes an alpha zombie, retaining their human speed and some cunning intelligence. As they move deeper through Vegas to the casino, the crew faces dangers and zombies of all kinds, but as their window before the bomb quickly closes, Scott begins to realize that their mission is not what it seems.
This zombie-filled horror comedy is packed with action and impressive special effects. Bautista leads an impressive cast through the fast-paced, twisted crime story unlike any other. Army of the Dead is a bloodbath of a movie, to say the least, but fans of horror comedies will find it an enjoyable adventure.
