From Infinite.
Ever since being diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teen, Evan (Mark Wahlberg) has struggled to hold down a job and with strange dreams that feel real. His mental disorder has also led Evan to several suicide attempts, hospitalizations, and countless fights, but lately, the dreams are putting him on edge. When Evan goes sell a sword that he made in exchange for pills, he ends up attacking the drug dealer and being arrested. When he arrives at the police station, he is interviewed by a man (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who keeps calling Evan “Treadway” and asking him questions about his previous lives. Things quickly escalate and Evan is almost killed by the man, but is rescued at the last moment by a woman named Nora (Sophie Cookson) who tells Evan that his would-be killer, Bathhurst, has been his enemy for countless lifetimes. As Nora explains that Infinites–people able to remember all their past lives–exist, Evan feels that it’s true. As Nora takes Evan to a training facility, she tells him that while Infinite Believers look to protect the world, Bathhurst’s Nihilists (including Wallis Day) seek a way to stop their reincarnations by any means necessary. In his last life, Evan (Dylan O’Brien) stole a world-ending device from Bathhurst (Rupert Friend) and hid it before he died, stalling the war between Infinites until Evan’s memories return. While the Believers (including Toby Jones, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Liz Carr, and Kae Alexander) are relieved to see Evan, they are able to unlock all his memories, so they send him to the neutral Infinite Peabody (Jason Mantzoukas) to retrieve the memories. When Evan finally remembers where he hid the device, he and the Believers launch into a deadly race to recapture it before Bathhurst can destroy the world.
Full of fight scenes, humor, and impressive special effects, this movie is a non-stop adventure. Wahlberg leads the talented cast through the sometimes-complex ideas of the story with ease, keeping the story engaging. Infinite is an action-packed ride that is the perfect summer blockbuster viewers can enjoy, all in the comforts of home.
