From Godzilla Vs. Kong.
After the events of the last few years, the world has accepted that the titan Godzilla is earth’s protector against other, malicious monsters. However, when Godzilla rises from the ocean to attack an Apex research center in Florida, Monarch (led by Kyle Chandler), the titan research group, fears that Godzilla has become humanity’s greatest threat. Realizing that Godzilla will need to be fought by another titan, Monarch considers moving the titan gorilla Kong from the desolate island he’s outgrowing. While Monarch’s lead Kong scientist, Ilene (Rebecca Hall) and her adopted Skull Island daughter, Jia (Kaylee Hottle), only want what’s best for Kong, others have different motives. Apex’s founder (Demián Bichir) and his daughter (Eliza González) want an unlimited power source from the center of the earth, so they convince Dr. Lind (Alexander Skarsgård) to get Ilene and Monarch to move Kong to a passageway to earth’s hollow center. Meanwhile, Godzilla-supporter Madison (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friend, Josh (Julian Dennison), believe there must be a reason for Godzilla’s attack, so they begin looking for a titan conspiracy podcaster (Brian Tyree Henry) to find the truth. Ilene finally agrees to take Kong to hopefully find a home in the hollow earth, but Godzilla senses the other titan’s movement and attacks, resulting in a deadly ocean battle and an urgency to get Kong to safety. Kong is able lead Lind, Ilene, and some Apex representatives into the hollow earth, and ultimately, to a power-filled weapon, but as soon as Kong touches the weapon, Godzilla senses the danger and attacks. Kong takes the weapon to the surface to fight Godzilla, but as their city-leveling fight carries on, an even more deadly force rises to end all the titans once and for all.
This crossover between cinema’s most legendary giant monsters is a spectacular visual experience. Filled with bigger, tougher monsters, and an impressive human cast, this story is an action fan’s greatest dream. Godzilla vs. Kong seems a bit slow to start, but the impressively-animated and epic fights make it all worth the wait.
