“A basement?”

From Nobody.

Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) leads a boring, predictable life with his successful in real estate wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen), and kids, Blake (Gage Munroe) and Abby (Paisley Cadorath). Working as an accountant for his father-in-law (Michael Ironside) and brother-in-law (Billy MacLellan), Hutch has fallen into a mild-mannered pattern in life that leaves him constantly trying to connect with his busy family.  When a pair of thieves breaks into his home and Hutch does not fight back, everyone in his life, with the exception of his aging father (Christopher Lloyd), looks down on his peacekeeping inaction. However, when Abby tells Hutch that her bracelet was taken along with the handful of money that the robbers took, that proves too much for the father to ignore, so he uses his long-dormant skills and reputation from when he was a government assassin to hunt down the bracelet thieves.  While Hutch is able to find the thieves, he is unable to find the bracelet, so on the bus ride home when a group of drunken thugs (led by Aleksandr Pal) begin to threaten the passengers, Hutch steps in and stops them.  When Hutch’s brother (RZA) reaches out to him from hiding to let him know that one of the thugs he hospitalized is the younger brother of Russian mobster, Yulian (Aleksey Serebryakov), who is now focused solely on finding Hutch for revenge, Hutch decides to fight the mob head-on.  Quickly moving from the sidelines to the heat of the action, Hutch takes on everything the Russian mob throws at him, but he decides to use his past to stop Yulian for good and protect his family’s quiet life in the suburbs.

This action-packed movie is filled with humor, wit, and talented actors to create an unforgettable story.  Odenkirk easily transforms from pushover to highly skilled killer, making his character genuinely captivating.  This movie is not a comedy, but the solid writing allows for the humorous moments to shine as the explosions and fights lead the way.  Nobody is a fun, impressive adventure from start to finish that will become an instant hit with viewers.
