From Chick Fight.
Drowning in debt from a failing business and mourning her late mother, Anna (Malin Akerman) has hit rock bottom in almost every area of her life. Distracted after visiting her dad (Kevin Nash) and meeting his new boyfriend (Alec Mapa), Anna mistakenly burns her uninsured business down. Now officially left with nothing, Anna is prepared to completely give up on life until her best friend, Charleen (Dulcé Sloan), takes her to a female fight club that she runs with the help of Bear (Fortune Feimster). Anna loses her first fight terribly and is ready to walk out until Charleen and Bear tell her that the fight club was founded by Anna’s mom as a sort-of therapy group. Despite her initial reluctance towards the fight club and the fact that she can’t fight at all, Anna is drawn in because of her mother’s legacy. So, Anna reaches out to the alcoholic, yet legendary fighting coach Murphy (Alec Baldwin) to train her so she can make it through a fight without being knocked out. Murphy begins to train Anna so she can make it through a fight without waking up under the care of the attractive fight club doctor, Roy (Kevin Connolly), after being knocked out. Unfortunately, Anna finds herself at odds with fight club’s unbeatable rebel Olivia (Bella Thorne), and challenges Olivia and her mean-spirited underlings (including Vitoria Setta) to fights. As she prepares for possibly the most dangerous fight of her life, Anna will have to decide how much of her life she’s willing to change for the club.
Built on a fun concept and filled with occasionally crass humor, this comedy creates a strong lead as the story progresses. Akerman develops her character each time she steps into the ring with the impressive camera work. While there are some solid fights and funny lines, the highly frequent sexual innuendo and dialog in Chick Fight will be off-putting for many viewers.
