“Thank you, sir.”

From Outside the Wire.

After a civil war destroyed much of Europe and led to the rise of an evil warlord, Viktor Koval (Pilou Asbæk), American soldiers have been brought in as peacekeepers.  While many of the American forces are robotic soldiers, there are also human forces that live in the demilitarized zone, constantly being bombarded by rebels and Koval’s forces.  When drone pilot Lieutenant Thomas Harp (Damson Idris) disobeys a direct order that results in the death of two marines, Harp is sent to Camp Nathanial in the thick in Europe’s demilitarized zone for retraining.  When Harp arrives at Camp Nathaniel, Colonel Eckhart (Michael Kelly) and Sargent Miller (Enzo Cilenti) inform him that he has been assigned to work with Captain Leo (Anthony Mackie) for the duration of his assignment.  However, when Harp meets Leo he quickly realizes that he is actually a cyborg prototype that has been tasked with finding and stopping Koval before he’s able to take over Russia’s supposedly-dismantled nuclear silos.  Under the guise of delivering vaccines, Leo and Harp travel outside the demilitarized zone to hunt down Koval as he and his army amp up the violence against American forces and civilians.  Leo reaches out to his contact, Sofiya (Emily Beecham), for information on Koval, and she sends them to a weapons dealer (Velibor Topic) to see what he recently sold to Koval’s forces.  The closer Leo and Harp get to Koval and the missiles, the more Harp begins to wonder about the true intentions of everyone involved in the war, especially those that know the truth about Leo’s humanity.

This sci-fi thriller is full of action and enough mystery to keep captivated viewers guessing to the very end.  The action and fight sequences are fast and impressive, especially when coupled with the mesmerizing special effects.  Mackie and Idris lead with interesting differences, which makes Outside the Wire a must-watch for any action fan.
