“Oh, that’s too bad.”

From The Lost Husband.

After a car accident killed her husband last year, Libby (Leslie Bibb) has been staying with her disapproving mother, Marsha (Sharon Lawrence), trying control the mess that her life has become.  Unable to live with her mother anymore, Libby moves with her kids, Abby (Callie Hope Haverda) and Tank (Roxton Garcia) to stay with her aunt, Jean (Nora Dunn).  Leaving the city behind to live on Jean’s goat farm in the quiet town of Atwater, Texas seems like a quiet retreat for Libby until Jean provides her with a hefty list of chores and introduces her to the rough-around-the-edges farm manager, James (Josh Duhamel).  When Aunt Jean informs both Libby and James that Libby will be working with James to help run the farm during their stay, both are against the idea, but ultimately give in to Jean’s plan.  The stressed and grieving Libby struggles to find her stride with farm life, especially when constantly clashing with James’ cowboy attitude and lifestyle.  While Libby and her kids have been met with nothing but kindness by Jean’s boyfriend, Russ (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) and his granddaughter, Sunshine (Herizen Guardiola), Libby refuses to let all of her defenses down to let herself be happy again.  When Libby discovers an old and long-forgotten family secret, it throws her world into even greater confusion as she struggles to find peace with her past and memories.  As she keeps finding herself stuck between unbearable grief and unexpected possibilities, Libby realizes that if she will allow herself to give love a chance, she might find a life unlike anything she ever imagined.

Created in the style of Hallmark and Lifetime movies, this romance is sweet, simple, and completely endearing.  Even though the film takes on the heavy topics of grief and loss, it is also filled with a fair amount of humor that lightens the mood and helps round out the characters.  The Lost Husband is the perfect pick for movie night and not too be missed.
