From The Old Guard.
Andy (Charlize Theron) leads a four-member team of elite mercenaries whose years of training have made them highly skilled, but their real strength lies in the fact that they are immortal. Once Andy realizes that she couldn’t die, no matter how many tried to kill her, she began finding others that shared the same unexplainable ability; this lead her to find Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), and Nicky (Luca Marinelli). Torn between helping people and the insignificance of their immortal work, Andy reluctantly agrees to meet with a client, James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), that wants to hire the team to rescue abducted Sudanese schoolchildren. Andy and the others agree to take on the mission, but they quickly realize that the mission was a set-up by Copley to test their abilities and attempt to capture them. While serving in Afghanistan, Nile (Kiki Layne) is killed during a brief conflict with a terrorist, but when she wakes back up, it terrifies her and and her unit, but it also sends out a mental beacon to Andy and the others. Andy is reluctant to bring in a new member while they search for Copley, but leaving Nile alone poses a greater risk, so Andy goes to bring her in while the rest of the team searches for Copley. The team soon realizes that Copley is working for Steven Merrick (Harry Melling) and his cutting edge pharmaceutical company that seeks to use Andy and the others as source material for marketable immortality. Another attack by Merrick’s forces divides the team, capturing Joe and Nicky and scattering Andy, Booker, and Nile. Desperate to avoid losing any more friends to the same fate as her long-lost friend, Quynh (Ngo Thanh Van), Andy vows to to take on Copley and Merrick, risking it all to save them.
