“So, what’s your plan?”

From Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

When Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Frypan (Dexter Darden), and Winston (Alexander Flores) escape from the maze, they are relieved to be free from WCKD, the evil corporation that put them there in order to study their immunity to the Flare virus.  Upon their arrival at a safe house, Thomas and his friends are introduced to Janson (Aiden Gillen) who introduces them to other teens they’ve rescued from multiple mazes.  While initially excited for their freedom, Thomas is unsure of their saviors’ true intentions and when a he meets Aris (Jacob Lofland), the only boy in a maze of girls, the two discover the terrible truth that Janson and his station work for WCKD’s Dr. Paige (Patricia Clarkson).  Desperate to escape the danger, Thomas and his friends escape with Aris out into the city-turned-desert Scorch to try to find a mysterious anti-WCKD group, the Right Arm.  As they travel across the Scorch to the mountains, they quickly discover that those infected with the Flare virus, nicknamed Cranks, are a deadly force to be reckoned with.  After stumbling into a group of mercenaries and their eccentric leaders Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito) and Brenda (Rosa Salazar), Thomas and his friends quickly become a very valuable prize.  Looking for a better life, Jorge and Brenda agree to take Thomas and the others to the Right Arm.  Struggling to keep his friends alive and figure out who he can trust, Thomas must face his most dangerous trial yet.

Picking up exactly where The Maze Runner left off, this adaptation takes the viewer on a non-stop adventure.  The second film of the trilogy moves fast from the first scene, but it also seems to switch more from a sci-fi thriller to a zombie sci-fi thriller.  Majorly different from the book, The Scorch Trials definitely fails a bit for fans of the printed story, but it is still an action-packed movie that viewers will find enjoyable.
