From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
In a New York City that is plagued by the evil Shredder (Tohoru Masamune) and his Foot Clan, reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) is desperate to break out of her boring rut, so while investigating at the docks, she witnesses an attempted Foot Clan chemical heist be thwarted by mysterious vigilantes. When April goes to tell her boss (Whoopi Goldberg) what she witnessed the night before, her lack of evidence leads to her cameraman, Vern (Will Arnett), and coworkers (including Taran Killam) to doubt her unbelievable story. However, a hostage situation in the subway allows April to see the four vigilantes in action up close and personal, and she realizes that the giant teenage mutant ninja turtles are connected to her past and the laboratory fire that killed her father. April goes to billionaire scientist Eric Sacks (William Fichtner) asking for his help to unravel the mystery of the ninja turtles. Then the turtles bring April to their sensei Splinter (Tony Shalhoub) so he can explain the truth of their existence. The tech-loving Donatello (Jeremy Howard), nice guy Leonardo (Johnny Knoxville), ladies man Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), and hotheaded Raphael (Alan Ritchson) were raised by Splinter in the sewers of New York as the lab animals mutated, grew, and trained for a soon-coming battle with Shredder. An attack on the turtles’ home separates the brothers, leaving April and Raphael to find and rescue the others before they are killed for the mutation in their blood so Shredder and his army (led by Minae Noji) can finally bring together their plan for total control.
This remake uses impressive technology to bring the turtles to life for a new generation. In an origin story that does well to bring some uniqueness to the fan-favorite characters, the fights are truly the most impressive part of the movie. When filled with a fun, talented cast, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles becomes the perfect fit for action-seeking fans, both old and new.
