“I have to stop looking!”

From Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The Avengers were able to undo the deaths of half the world, and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is one of the people returned from “the Blip.”  Those that returned are exactly the same as when they died five years ago, and the world is desperately trying to move on to life as normal.  All Peter, whose super alter ego is Spider-Man, wants is a break from being a superhero who lost his mentor Tony Stark.  Peter’s Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) encourages him to take a school trip across Europe, with the only possible damper being the calls from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) that he keeps ignoring, much to annoyance of Peter’s handler, Happy (Jon Favreau).  Another reason Peter is looking forward to the trip is that, with a little help from his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), he plans to tell MJ (Zendaya) that he likes her at the most romantic spots on earth.  So under the misplaced guidance of two chaperones (Martin Starr and J.B. Smoove), Peter and his classmates (including Angourie Rice, Remy Hii, and Tony Revolori) head off on vacation.  However, a monster attack in Venice quickly proves to Peter that this won’t be the superhero break he was hoping for when Fury and Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) contact him for help in Europe.  Fury has also joined forces with a warrior from another universe, Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) to fight the Earth-ending Elemental monsters that are popping up all across Europe.  While Peter is reluctant to join yet another fight, Beck, who the media has dubbed Mysterio, encourages Peter to keep his friends safe by keeping the world safe.  Armed only with a new suit from S.H.I.E.L.D. and a pair of glasses from Stark, Peter agrees to help Mysterio defeat the monsters in a dangerous battle across the globe… all while trying to find a way to tell MJ how he feels about her.

This first Marvel movie to take place after the events of Endgame helps to bring some closure to the previous stories while also opening the door to new developments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Holland again brings Spider-Man to life, both with and without the mask; while the global background makes every scene a visual treat.  The story is funny, action-packed, endearing, and full of twists for fans old and new.  Far From Home is a must-see movie for superhero fans of all ages!
