“To make it through you need grit, strength, and a little bit of what Steve’s got.”

From Penguins.

Following the oremier solo track of a male Adélie Penguin from his home by the sea to the breeding grounds on the shore, viewers are introduced to the young penguin named Steve who always seems to be just a little bit behind the rest of his group. Crossing hundreds of miles of Antarctica that is a baron, frozen land, Steve faces hardships as he interacts with other wildlife, dangerous terrain, and trying to find a nest spot for the soon coming females and breeding season. From gathering rocks to finding the perfect spot to attracting a female to mate, Steve is up for one crazy adventure. However, when he meets Adeline and she lays two eggs, Steve’s life is about to get even more complicated. While dealing with the harsh weather and terrain as well as vicious predators that are constantly circling, Steve and Adeline try to protect their chicks until the end of the breeding season when all the penguins return home. Once the chicks hatch, the mother and father penguins spend all of their time either keeping the young chicks warm or traveling out to sea to bring back food. Over the one month until they leave, life becomes an endless cycle of feeding the chicks and keeping them safe. While life in Antartica is harsh and dangerous, Steve and the other penguins have also discovered that the frozen world holds just as much beauty and magic, as well.

The latest in the Disneynature documentary series follows the adorable, clumsy penguin to tell a truly heartwarming and family-friendly story. Narrator Ed Helms is the perfect voice both to give thoughts to Steve’s journey and to explain the harsh realities of his frozen world. The soundtrack is also perfectly chosen to create a fun and lively accompaniment for the little penguins’ adventures. Penguins is an entertaining, but educational story that the whole family can enjoy.
