From Avengers: Endgame.
Reeling after Thanos (Josh Brolin) used the six Infinity Stones to wipe out the lives of half the universe, Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) lead Thor (Chris Hemsworh), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) on a desperate mission to take the Stones back from Thanos. However, when the Stones are lost, the remaining Avengers are scattered and the world plunges into a hopeless existence. When Ant-Man (Paull Rudd) escapes from the Quantum Realm by chance, he develops a wild plan to reverse Thanos’ mass genocide using the Quantum Realm to travel back in time to capture the Infinity Stones. Convinced that this is the only chance with any possibility of success, Captain America and Black Widow begin to gather the defeated heroes from around the galaxy including Bruce Banner’s Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). Left with only enough resources for one round-trip each, the Avengers split into 3 teams and travel back to various times and places to undo the destruction Thanos left in his wake. Their plans are interrupted on almost every mission which leaves the Avengers scrambling to collect all the Stones before Thanos can capture the Stones, because this time he has plans to annihilate all of Earth.
This movie is the end of a certain era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe; it is the second part to 2018’s Infinity War and a thrilling, moving, action-packed adventure for fans of the genre. The story line is complex and unexpected, with the film lightened through brief, but constant comedic moments to help break up the heavy and serious tone. The cast is stellar, as each actor brings their character from beaten to the lay-it-all-on-the-line attitude that the story requires. While viewers who have seen the previous twenty-something Marvel movies will have the most connection, any viewer that has seen Infinity War will enjoy the movie. With a story that is drastically different than expected, Avengers: Endgame wasted none of its potential by using the heroes fans love and a story that continually develops to become the very best superhero movie that it could be!
