From Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is a normal kid dealing with a new school, trying to please his parents, and trying to leave his mark on the world… a world where Peter Parker (Chris Pine) is Spider-Man, but manages to keep his life with wife, Mary Jane (ZoĆ« Kravitz) private. His police officer father (Brian Tyree Henry) is pushing Miles to be his best, but Miles often finds himself hanging out with his Uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali), tagging and other slightly-illegal entertainment. When Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway, he slowly begins to notice some changes happening like sticking to things and sensing danger moments before it happens; Miles also stumbles into an evil dimension-breaking plan by Kingpin (Liev Schreiber). While Kingpin and his chief scientist (Kathryn Hahn) are unsuccessful in their mission, they unintentionally bring the Spiders of other dimensions to Miles’ Brooklyn. Now Miles’ only option for a superhero teacher is the washed-up Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), but he also tries learning from Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), and Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn). As Kingpin plans to relaunch his devastating machine, all the Spiders search for a way to stop him and return safely to their dimensions, but Miles really struggles to control his new abilities before it’s too late for both his fellow heroes and his world.
This movie is amazing from start to finish! The powerhouse cast is the perfect embodiment for their individual characters, the humor is constant and genuine, and the animation is breathtakingly unlike any other movie. While it is an origin story, it differs enough from the traditional formula to make it more engaging to watch; the movie, as a whole, is also willing to poke fun at superhero movies/comics to highlight the elements that make the genre so entertaining. Definitely not a movie to be missed, Into the Spider-Verse is a action comedy that viewers of all ages will love!
