“No!”

From The Girl in the Spider’s Web.

After running away from a terrible home as a young girl, Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy) dedicated her life to saving women from abusive men through both her career as a hacker and her vigilantism. The one regret that consistently plagues Lisbeth is that her sister Camilla (Sylvia Hoeks) refused to run away from her father with her. When a disgraced NSA agent Balder (Stephen Merchant) contacts Lisbeth asking her to hack into the American agency to steal back his missilecontrolling program, she is able to get the program back, but before she can meet Balder and his son, August (Christopher Convery), masked men blow up Lisbeth’s apartment and steal the program. Lisbeth reaches out to Blomkvist (Sverrir Gudnason), a journalist from her past, to help her investigate those responsible for the attack on her life. Meanwhile, a current NSA hacker named Needham (Lakeith Stanfield) heads to Sweden hot on Lisbeth’s digital trail to stop the program from falling into the wrong hands. Lisbeth follows Balder and his son, hoping to find the men who stole the program from her, all while avoiding the head of Swedish national security (Synnøve Macody Lund) and an entire country that wants her arrested. The closer she gets to unraveling the mystery surrounding her, the more Lisbeth feels herself being pulled toward her childhood home.

This thriller has some amazing actors and solid action and twists, but since this movie is meant to revamp the franchise, it leaves a little something to be desired for those not familiar with the previous films. Foy is amazing in her almost-unrecognizable role, making it very easy to root for and connect with her character; the most enjoyable portion of the movie is watching the main character do her job, either electronically or physically. The major disappointment is how long it takes to get into the action-heavy scenes, but overall The Girl in the Spider’s Web is a well-crafted, gripping thriller.
