“Yes, yes, yes!”

From The Spy Who Dumped Me.

When her best friend, Morgan (Kate McKinnon), decides to throw her a birthday party,  all it does for Audrey (Mila Kunis) is act as a painful reminder that her boyfriend Drew (Justin Theroux)–who she met on her last birthday–has recently dumped her with no explanation.  One day, two men (Sam Heughan and Hasan Minhaj) pull Audrey into a van and inform her that Drew was actually a spy for the CIA; Audrey is full of questions so she runs home to tell her best friend all about her newly discovered information.  When Drew shows up to get some stuff he left at Audrey’s apartment, she confronts him until he tells her that he is a spy and has to get a trophy to a contact in Vienna to save the lives of countless people.  When an assassin kills Drew, Audrey and Morgan are left with nowhere safe at home, so they decide to get the intel to the contact in Vienna.  The two friends’ wild adventure across Europe is filled with assassins (such as Ivanna Sakhno), Directors of secret agencies (Gillian Anderson), calls to Morgan’s parents (Paul Reiser and Jane Curtin), and lots of danger, but through it all Morgan and Audrey stick together to stay alive and save the world.

The high point of this movie is definitely the action and laughs that compete throughout the entire film.  The humor starts with the opening scene and continues right until the end credits; all the cast play off each other well, allowing the humor to develop smoothly.  Kunis and McKinnon are the perfect slightly-odd best friend pairing, both women are unique in their attitudes, but together they form a brilliant combination of humor, intelligence, and spunky femininity.  The story has enough twists too keep the audience engaged, while not bored.  The Spy Who Dumped Me is a fun movie for people from all walks of life who want to celebrate the friendships that make life enjoyable.
