From Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
Since capturing the Anarchist Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the rest of his Impossible Mission Force team have been traveling the world trying to protect it from the evil Lane’s Syndicate left behind… mainly a group of terrorists-for-hire called the Apostles. When a mission to buy back stolen plutonium goes bad because Ethan is unwilling to sacrifice the lives of his team, the plutonium falls into the hands of the Apostles and the IMF team gets ready to follow the Apostles to Europe. The IMF’s advisor in the CIA (Angela Bassett) has grown tired of the way Ethan Hunt runs their operations, so she insists that one of her operatives, Walker (Henry Cavill), accompanies Ethan, Benji (Simon Pegg), and Luther (Ving Rhames) as they track down the stolen plutonium. In order to get back the plutonium, Ethan and Walker must find Lark, the Apostles’ mysterious leader, and meet a black market broker (Vanessa Kirby), but things quickly go wrong and Ethan is left with a dead Lark, a fast-approaching meeting, and the unexpected appearance of an old friend, Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson) who urges Ethan to walk away. Hunt’s mission is further complicated when he learns that the price for the plutonium is Lane’s escape and safe delivery to the Apostles. With the IMF and CIA watching his every move, Ethan must find a way to free Lane without losing him, regain the plutonium, and keep those closest to him safe in the face of impossible odds.
The sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible series captures the elements that make the movies so enjoyable: thrilling action, genuine acting, subtle humor, and a daring storyline. The heart of the story comes from Hunt’s past experiences from the previous films, so a wide cast of characters comes together in an adventure filled with twists-and-turns that keep the story familiar, but not boring and overplayed. As the series progresses, so does the quality of the movies, as is made very evident with Fallout; a great movie that is definitely worth the watch.
