From Skyscraper.
When a bomb takes his leg and career in the FBI, Will Sawyer (Dwayne Johnson) is given the opportunity to meet his wife, Sarah (Neve Campbell) and settle down as a family man. When an old teammate (Pablo Schreiber) recommends him as an independent security consultant for a Hong Kong skyscraper called the Pearl, Will, his wife, and their two kids (McKenna Roberts and Noah Cottrell) move into the 220-story building for six months as he tests the building for designer/owner Zhao Long Ji (Chin Han). The Pearl features some of the highest quality amenities, both public and private, and some of the most state-of-the-art security systems operated by building located safely over a mile away. After meeting with Zhao and Pierce (Noah Taylor), the Pearl’s potential insurance representative, all that remains for Will is to test is the offsite facility. In order to access everything, Will is given a tablet which controls the security for the secondary facility and will allow him to enter the system. Will heads off to secondary facility, but on the way his bag is stolen in an attempt to obtain the high-tech tablet. As the rest of the family is relaxing in their 98th floor apartment, a group led by Kores Botha (Roland Møller) start an unstoppable fire two floors below that uses the safety measures to aid their blaze… all to force Zhao to move an valuable item out of the Pearl and away from safety. Will must now fight his way back to the Pearl and then into the building that is falling more and more to the spreading fire. As the fire burns higher, Will must fight to get to his family and stop the team of highly-trained killers from destroying the skyscraper before he can rescue his wife and children.
This movie is action-packed, but paced well so that the movie never feels rushed or slow. The special effects are spectacular and make the story of how far a father can go for his family believable. While there is a bit of foreshadowing in the first few opening scenes, Skyscraper also provides enough twists to keep viewers glued to the screen until it comes to a heart-pumping conclusion.
