From Deadpool 2.
Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is trying to be good… he really is trying his best. He’s been traveling around the world as a super-powered, regenerative-health mercenary with the help of his friends (T.J. Miller and Leslie Uggams), his favorite cab driver (Karen Soni), and his girlfriend, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). Deadpool has joined up with the X-Men and he’s trying to follow their no-killing rule, but when they arrive at a home for mutant reform, Deadpool breaks that rule to protect a mutant kid named Russell (Julian Dennison). As a result, Deadpool and Russell are sent off to a mutant prison where powers are neutralized and prisoners left to fend for themselves. When Cable (Josh Brolin), a militant cyborg from the future, comes back in time to kill Russell in hopes of changing the future, Deadpool is the only one who has any chance of keeping the kid safe. Even though he is un-killable, in order to stop the unbeatable Cable, Deadpool must gather a group of mutants for some extra help. Deadpool’s X-Force is headed up by Domino (Zazie Beetz) and filled with other mutants with impressive abilities (Terry Crews, Bill Skarsgard, and others), but it isn’t enough to rescue Russell from the prison or Cable. This forces Deadpool to ask several of the X-Men for forgiveness and help to help fight Cable, so with the help of Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) Negasonic (Brianna Hildebrand) and the X-Force, Deadpool takes off to save Russell, stop Cable, and maybe– if they have time– save the world, too.
Reynolds again shines as the fan-favorite “Merc with a Mouth” who does what’s right by getting dirty; the sarcastic, foul-mouthed assassin is an antihero, not because he doesn’t like heroes, but because he doesn’t ever want to be one. This movie is filled with intense blood and violence, but also everything that a superhero movie fan could ever want: hilarious and blatant honesty, fourth-wall breaks, and a plethora of cameos. While definitely not a children’s movie, this action comedy will have audiences laughing uncontrollably from start to finish at the brilliant mayhem that is Deadpool 2.
