From Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Starting just moments after the closing scenes of The Force Awakens, everyone is a bustle of activity. While Leia (Carrie Fisher) and the rest of the Resistance forces were able to survive the Starkiller Base attack, they must still evacuate the base and escape the subsequent attacks of the evil First Order fleet. Fighter pilot Poe (Oscar Isaac) is faced with life-threatening choices while fleeing with the remainder of the Resistance fleet, and it becomes clear the only chance for a successful escape lies with Finn (John Boyega), pipe worker Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), and BB-8 searching the galaxy for a hacker before the Resistance is overtaken. Meanwhile, Rey (Daisy Ridley) has arrived at the remote planet where Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has been hiding; Rey must convince Luke to come out of his seclusion if the Resistance is to have any chance of survival against the First Order, but after his failure with nephew Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), he is sure that the Force has lost its usefulness. Rey must set off with her limited knowledge of the Force to solve the mysterious link she shares with Kylo and try to help him turn from the Dark Side before all is truly lost.
This movie is everything that a viewer could ever want: genuine characters (both old and new), witty dialog, stunning visuals, and captivating story. The battle scenes are elevated in this movie, both in frequency and intensity; almost every character is required to join in the fight of Light verses Dark, and it is spectacular! Several lighter/comedic dialog help to keep the movie from becoming a drama-overload for viewers, but also don’t throw off the tone of the entire movie. While many questions are answered (Who is Snoke?), some are left unanswered (Where is Rey from?), but nothing is left as a cliffhanger. The Last Jedi manages to masterfully act as a movie that appeals to dedicated fans and series newcomers alike; it is an edge-of-your-seat, heart-gripping tale full of twists and surprises that only serves to captivate the viewer, just as a great movie should.
