“All you have to do is look, up in the sky.”

From Justice League.

The world is in danger and Batman (Ben Affleck) needs to gather a team of superheroes to find and defeat the coming evil.  Batman then must try to recruit Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason MoMoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and maybe Superman (who may or may not be played by Henry Cavill) to form the Justice League.  While there have been other movie introductions for Affleck, Cavill, and Gadot’s characters, several members are making their debut in this super power-packed mammoth of a superhero movie.  Bringing this very varied group of heroes together would be challenge enough, but defending a world that has lost its hope (after Superman’s demise in Batman v. Superman) only adds to the deadly situation.   Each hero is used to working alone and using their powers for good as they see fit, but as their knowledge of the enemy increases, it becomes very obvious that the only way to win is to fight as a united force.

This movie adaptation of the DC Comics series is quite superb!  It seems that DC has finally found the perfect balance between drama, action, and humor… it almost makes the wait through the drama-heavy Man of Steel movies worth it (almost).  The lighter moments are brief (so as to not derail the entire movie), but also frequent enough to provide some heart and substance to the members of the Justice League.  The movie has a steady pace that pairs well with engaging dialog and fantastic special effects shots.  The introduction/origin stories develop with the story; the new characters are introduced just enough to let viewers understand who the heroes are as individuals in development, while not getting lost in a “meet the new guy!” overkill.  The only major issue with the film is the selection of the villain, because the character will not be well-known to those who don’t know the comics, but they’re easy to hate.  Justice League is a fun movie with something for everyone to enjoy.
